Mangalesh Dabral was born in 1948 in Kafalpani, a remote hilly village in Uttarakhand. A poet, journalist and translator, he has published five books of poetry, three books of prose, and a travel diary.His poems are translated in almost all Indian and foreign languages, such as German, Dutch, Italian, French, Polish, Russian, Bulgarian, Portuguese and Spanish and have been included in various anthologies and journals, such as Periplus, Survival, 100 Indian Poets,These My Words, Modern Poetry In Translation, Poetry Review, World Literature Today, . One of his collections Aawaaz Bhi Ek Jagah Hai is translated in Italian by Prof. Mariola Offredi , titled, Anche La Voce E Un Luogo. Managlaesh Dabral has also participated in International Writing Programme , Iowa University as a fellow, in Poetry International Festival, Rotterdam and Leipzig Book Fair, and has given poetry reading in a number of countries and cities. A recipient of prestigious award for poetry from Sahitya Akademi, Indian Academy of Letters , Pahal Samman and many more. Mangalesh Dabral lives in Delhi and works as editor of a Hindi fortnightly magazine.
